When Choir was over Delilah checked her schedule out in the hall to see what class she had next.
"Crap." She thought. It was lunch. She decided she would just head outside and hang out near the forest. She loved being outside and it would be nice to not be around humans for a little while anyway. Just then someone put their arm around her and she stopped dead in her tracks and reeled around defensively.
"Oh I'm sorry D." Elizabeth Newton said when she saw Delilah's reaction. She asked quickly, thinking Delilah was irritated at the nickname.
"Oh sorry. Didn't realize it was you. Usually people can't sneak up on me." Delilah said, still looking a little perturbed.
"Uh, is it alright if I call you D?" Elizabeth asked, thinking she looked irritated at the nickname when really it was the fact that she had let her guard down enough to even let someone sneak up on her. When Elizabeth asked she realized she was still scowling and smiled.
"Yeah that's fine."
"So you wanna sit with me at lunch?" Elizabeth asked cheerfully.
"Well I was actually going to go outside. I don't eat lunch." She paused, although it was so quickly Elizabeth probably didn't notice. "I'm on a diet." Delilah said deciding that was best excuse since it had worked fine at her last couple of schools. Elizabeth looked somewhat hurt. "But I could still come to the cafeteria with you." Instantly Elizabeth's face lit up. "Let me just run to my car real quick. I forgot something."
"Okay I'll see you in the caf!" She said cheerfully just before skipping off and when she was out of sight Delilah felt much better. Delilah was never short of energy, but that girl had entirely too much for her liking, but what would it hurt to act somewhat normal for a day. On the way to her car Delilah went down a deserted hall and then passed another that she thought was empty until she heard a cheerful female voice. She looked over and saw the two vamps she had had Shop with along with four more others, two guys and two girls, but the one guy was different. She stopped for a second until she saw one of them turn to look in her direction so she took off down the hall towards the front doors of the school.
When she got out to her car she looked back at the building. "Shit," she thought. "I can't get back without going back by that hall." She thought as she walked up the steps. "I just run by at a human pace." She decided, though knowing it would only let her escape a confrontation, not hide what she was.
