Juliette crushed a metallic cellphone between her spidery pale fingers. Silver dust gently floated to the carpet - all that was left of the instrument. Her dark eyes, cold and distant, were narrowed into ebony slits. Curled fists were strained at her side. She inhaled sharply.
"What does she think she's doing? Talking to me like that!" she cried to absolutely no one in particular before she circled her personal desk and took a seat at it. She pushed a small button on a black intercom and leaned forward.
"Sebastian!" she continued in a high pitch squeak. "We have a problem! Marguerite and Oceane are meeting with The Cullens - before we have."

Sebastian rubbed the tender spot between his dark eyes with two pale fingers and grimaced.
"I'll be right there, honey," he replied in a monotone voice. He pushed back his chair, took a few steps to the door, turned a corner, and entered the office of the woman he had loved for almost 200 years.
His smile radiated when he realized he still loved her as much as he did the first day he laid eyes upon her.
"This will all work out," he immediately comforted, although he himself was not so sure of his own words. "Marguerite is clear on our stance. Oceane...on the other hand..." He let the sentence trail off, for he knew neither one of them wanted to imagine the outcome if Oceane took a hold of the reins.

Marguerite was folding and unfolding her hands in her lap as her sister's sports car glided into the parking lot of their parent's offices. She wasn't sure how they would react...she hadn't asked their permission to hold any sort of meeting with the Cullens, and after Oceane's accusation, everything was out in the open, and Marguerite was scared Sebastian and Juliette would not be happy.
Marguerite opened the door with lightning speed and was face to face with her mother in another split second. Juliette's dark, brooding eyes bored into Marguerite's with the same tenacity as a sword into a soft belly.
"Juliette..." Marguerite whispered in defeat, sure she was in for the reaming of a lifetime.

Juliette had to restrain herself from snarling.
She loved Marguerite, yes. Loved her like a daughter, loved her as much as she loved Sebastian and Oceane.
But it had not been on her or Sebastian's orders, and it had not been Oceane, who had ultimately leaked their true, shrouded reason for moving to Forks. If any of the word were to make it back to France, the Reineqs would be blasted off the face of the planet before the Cullens even realized what was happening. If Les Redevances knew what they were planning...then all of this had been in vain.
"Marguerite," Juliette growled, with a twisted smile playing on her lips. "What exactly did you think you would gain by meeting with the Cullens without Sebastian and I's consent? Do you believe that you know our situation better than we do? Do you believe you could have handled the Cullens if they turned? Tell me Marguerite, what exactly you were thinking by taking this situation into your own hands."

"I-I-I..." Marguerite never stuttered, but she found herself at a loss for words. Juliette was completely right. Marguerite had not been thinking, and for some reason had taken it upon herself to introduce themselves to the Cullens.
It had taken years to make the move. Years of covering up tracks, misleading other covens, the breaking and construction of new and old ties. Had Marguerite ruined their plans in just one day? Was it possible?
She resisted the urge to glare at her other sister, who had been standing there all this time and still had not said anything. It was Oceane who pushed Marguerite into telling the Cullens their real intentions, it was Oceane who was outspoken, it was Oceane who was to blame.
Marguerite closed her heavy eyes and shook her head. No, it wasn't Oceane's fault. Marguerite had chosen to obey her sister's crazy commands, and it would fall on Marguerite's shoulders alone the consequences.

"Enough."
Sebastian's voice was low, soft, but commanded the attention of the three female vampires in the room.
"That is enough," he repeated in a solemn tone, his ember eyes trailing back and forth between his mate, Juliette, and his darkly beautiful daughter, Marguerite. He hated to see his family fighting, especially over something that could prove not to be a problem at all.
"It was our decision, Juliette, to send our daughters to the school with The Cullens after all," he gently reminded his wife. "We knew this could happen."
He turned back to Marguerite and Oceane and addressed them both. "I am not happy with either of you," he admitted with a grimace. "But what is done, is done. I will handle this."
In a blur, he shot a white hand into the pocket of his slacks and brought a finely made cell phone to his ear. He dialed.
"May I please speak to Dr. Carlisle Cullen?" he asked in a velvet voice. "This is Sebastian Reineq."

Carlisle glanced at Edward before picking up the phone in his office. "Hello, Cullen residence." He paused when he heard the last name of the man on the phone and glanced at Edward again, thinking the name in his head. Carlisle kept his voice calm and kind, but professional. "Yes, this is Carlisle Cullen. What can I do for you, Mr. Reineq?"

Edward raised an eyebrow when the phone rang and when Carlisle looked back at him and he heard who it was, he grew tense. He wondered the reason for the call and waited impatiently for the second or two before Sebastian had begun talking again.

"Good afternoon Dr. Carlisle," Sebastian started off politely, rubbing the point of his chin absentmindedly. "I'm sorry if I'm interrupting anything. But it seems as if we have some...matters to discuss. Our children have taken things into their own hands but I would prefer it perhaps if our covens could meet in a more professional setting, if your family agreed."

Carlisle nodded once to himself. "Yes, from my standing point, I do believe our children did move into this too quickly. However, I would agree with you that we can meet elsewhere. Is there a particular location you would prefer to meet, Mr. Reineq?"

Sebastian frowned slightly. He had not exactly decided where the meeting should be held, and felt that he should confer with his family. However, he had Carlisle on the phone right now, a decision should be fast and swift.
The place needed to be neutral. It needed to be far enough from civilization, in case things went out of hand.
Sebastian cleared his throat. "The forest? Would that be acceptable? I hope you understand why it would be unfair to hold the meeting at either of our residences."

"Yes, I agree that it would be quite unfair to meet at either residence. The forest would be perfect. Will you need time to discuss meeting times with your family before we decide on a day and time?"
Carlisle glanced at Edward, his eyes calm and collected. He gave a small nod toward Edward, trying to calm him down.

Edward remained tense as he listened to the conversation via Carlisle's thoughts. He nodded back when Carlisle nodded to him and tried to lighten up, knowing that's what Carlisle's intentions were. He thought for a quick moment about the forest and that they needed to make sure that they weren't on Quileute land for the meeting, but then he quickly realized that Carlisle would be well aware about the treaty since he was the one that negotiated it so many, many years ago.

"No. My family and I are ready when you are. We have been waiting quite a long time for our two covens to convene."
He smiled slightly as his dark eyes found Juliette's. Everything would work out. Everything would be fine. He would be sure of it.

Carlisle thought for a moment about the forest near Forks Highschool, ultimately deciding it would be the best place, a common ground. "Alright. If it is not too soon, we can meet tonight if you like. And is the forest near Forks Highschool equal enough of ground for you?"

"Quite fair," Sebastian chuckled heartily, true laughter ringing in his ears. It had been quite a time since he had heard it. "Dr. Cullen, please. We are not a threat, and I hope to prove this to you tonight. My family and I have all of our best interests at heart. And I believe our 'adopted' children have already familiarized themselves and have yet to kill one another, which is a good sign."
His grin widened. "How does 8 sound?"

Carlisle noted that Sebastian's laugh sounded sincere and let a small smile appear on his lips. "I appreciate that our children have in fact not taken this out of hand as I suspected it had been. And eight works for us. I look forward to our families meeting, Mr. Reineq."

"Until then."
He clicked the cellphone shut and shoved it back into his pocket. With a large smile crossing his lips, he turned back to his family, his dark eyes the lightest the coven had seen in years.
"We're meeting them at 8," he exhaled, ruffling his sandy blond hair between his pale fingers. "I think this is all going to work out." He barked another laugh and glanced at his watch. Soon.

Juliette's frown did not disappear.
Her hard granite gaze moved from her husband to her daughter, Marguerite.
"Well, it seems your father has ratified the situation," she said coolly, her dark eyes hardening. "Marguerite, I hope you have learned your lesson. Do not, I repeat, do not ever take our family's matters into your own hands again."
Her high voice rang in the office and died quickly, leaving an uncomfortable, strained silence. Surprised her second daughter hadn't said anything, Juliette turned to Oceane.
"Well? Don't you have anything to say?"

Oceane shrugged. She had watched, from a distance, the events unfold before her. She felt as if she had nothing to contribute. She was however burdened by the grief that her sister had taken the fall for meeting with The Cullens, even though it was Oceane that had ultimately spilled the beans.
But, Oceane continued to ponder, Marguerite could have stopped it any time, refused to tell, or even just left the scene.
But she hadn't. Oceane knew that Marguerite wanted to be in control, knew Marguerite wanted to handle the "children" of The Cullens and much as Sebastian wanted to handle the adults. Oceane had just paved the way.
"I'm good, actually," Oceane responded casually.
