Rebekah sipped from a cup of tea in her left hand and tapped her fingers on the table with her right hand, staring at the cell phone on the table in front of her. She was anxiously awaiting the call from Delilah to find out how her first day of high school in her new town had gone. Rebekah was wishing she, her husband, and youngest daughter would have moved with her. She was already contemplating ways they could make it work. She just had this strange gut feeling that Delilah was going to need them. It was odd because Delilah had lived apart from them many times before.
“It’s only because she’s so far away this time.” Rebekah told herself aloud.

“Mom, are you talking to yourself again?” Tabitha, asked as she came out of the house onto the porch and sat down beside her. She looked at her and the way she was staring at the cell phone. “Why don’t we just go see her? I haven’t seen her in months, I really miss her.” She said as she flipped her long straight blonde hair over her shoulder. She missed Delilah terribly even though she hadn’t really lived with her for long.

“Oh honey, that’s a great idea! Just go see her and make sure she’s getting settled in alright!” She exclaimed, almost sounding as if the she was trying to convince herself that that’s why they would go see her.

Ardal finished the book he was reading and closed it only to open it again to the front cover to find the note that was left with it.
Daddy, Hope you enjoy this one. It reminds me of that book you read to me as a child. I’ll miss you while I’m gone but I’ll be sure to call and write often. Love you lots! Delilah
Her script made him smile. He missed her so much but he couldn’t blame her for leaving. She had decided since she was no longer the only child he loved her less. “It’s my own fault.” He thought. He had tried to buy Tabitha things to make up for favoring Delilah with his time only for Delilah to see it as him favoring Tabitha. He felt awful and had been trying to figure out how to make it right since she left. He set the book down on the coffee table and went to the porch where Rebekah and Tabitha were. Rebekah was excited about something and talking fast with a large smile.
Ardal walked out of the house. “What’s all the excitement about?” He asked looking between the two of them.

Tabitha was happy when her mom got so excited about the idea. She really admired Delilah and was sad she didn’t get to see her much. She felt like she fit in better when she was around, as strange as it seems. She thought about how uncomfortable she felt at her grandfather’s last party. He’s a very wealthy man and often throws parties for his vampire friends. She always felt like an outcast. She was different then all of them, even the half vamps like her mom and to top it all off her gift is something her family and their friends had never seen before. She had a few of the gorgeous guys that were there come and talk to her and show interest only for them to start prying about her life and abilities. She frowned, but smiled again when her mom told her dad that they were going to go see Delilah. She knew her dad wouldn’t be able to disagree, not with the look on her mom’s face. She could talk him into so much with that look.

“We’re going to go visit Delilah!” Rebekah said with an excited smile, putting on the charm so that Ardal would never be able to turn her down. She knew that Delilah would always be his little girl but he also hated to intrude when she lived on her own. "Just to make sure she's getting settled in and everything." She beamed up at him.

He thought about it for a moment and decided that while he hated to intrude he really wanted to set things right with her and decided that a face to face was the best way to do it. He smiled back at them.
“Well get packing!” He said, trying to not sound as excited as he felt about going to see Delilah. He was sure he knew that Rebekah was going to try and find a reason to move with her, or rather he hoped she was going to.

Tabitha didn't have to be told twice to get packing. Before her parents could say anything else she was in her room throwing clothes into a couple of suitcases. She wasn't going to give anyone the chance to change their minds. As she threw things in the suitcases she pulled out her phone and Googled the way to Forks, WA.
About 24 to 26 hours, shouldn't be too hard. We can be there when she gets out of school tomorrow if we leave within the next hour or so. She was thinking as she shoved her phone back into her pocket and closed the suitcases she had packed and headed back out to the living room, hoping her parents would be ready soon too.

Rebekah was already standing in the living room when Tabitha entered. Ready to go.
"Your father has already started taking bags out to the car." She chimed with a large smile before picking up the two suitcases still with her and heading out the door, holding it open for Tabitha to follow her.
They took their bags to the pickup in the driveway. It was actually Delilah's but she had no way to get both it and her Mustang to Forks with her by herself, so they had been using it while she was gone. They packed the covered box of the 4 door Ford pickup and closed the tailgate.
"Is that everything?" Rebekah asked quickly, setting a backpack in the middle of the front seat. She was excited to visit her daughter and more than ready to head out and hoped Ardal didn't come up with any reasons to prolong leaving.
